Our Whimsical Wedding in France & What I Cooked Last Week
Three Years Later: Looking Back on Our Wedding, Juicy Lemon Oregano Chicken, Sesame Pasta Salad
Hi everyone,
I hope you’re having a great week. Doug and I just celebrated our 3-year anniversary last Thursday! We spent the afternoon at the pool and then went out to dinner at Mother Wolf in LA. It’s one of our go-to spots when we’re in the mood for something a little more fancy. The handmade pastas are always cooked to al dente perfection, and the servers are incredibly warm and thoughtful.
Our anniversary had me reminiscing about our wedding weekend, and I thought it’d be fun to share a few highlights with you all.
Growing up, I was obsessed with the idea of finding true love. Even in college, I would watch random wedding videos of strangers on YouTube (lol!). So when Doug and I got engaged in 2019, I was beyond excited to start planning. Because of Covid delays, we had a three-year engagement, which gave us plenty of time to dream things up and make the day feel completely like us. Below, I’m sharing how we picked the location, some of the whimsical surprises we planned for our guests, and more!
First, here’s a recipe for the juiciest, most flavorful marinated chicken breast that I’ve been making on repeat. The marinade locks in moisture to ensure the chicken stays extra juicy. I hope you try this one!

Juicy Lemon Oregano Chicken
This marinade yields the most flavorful, juiciest chicken breast. It comes together with lemon juice, oregano, garlic, honey, and Dijon mustard, for a delicious balance of savory, tangy, and sweet.

Sesame Pasta Salad
In Middle School, I used to go to a café near the library that had a sesame pasta so good I still remember it 20 years later. Light, refreshing, and perfectly dressed with a soy-sesame sauce.
Our Wedding in the South of France
When Doug and I got engaged at Burning Man in 2019, it was a total surprise. I had no idea he was planning to propose that week, especially since it was my first time there (and his third!). I was just excited to be there and having fun when I turned around and saw him down on one knee…
As I mentioned earlier, I’d always dreamed of my wedding, but I didn’t have a set destination in mind. Doug and I both love Europe, especially France, and we’d been there several times together. (The first time I met his parents was actually on a trip to the south of France!) My family loves France too, so we started looking at wedding venues in the French countryside. I came across Château de Tourreau in Provence on Instagram and immediately fell in love. We booked it without even visiting first!
We wanted the wedding to feel fun and whimsical, full of surprises. We even drew a little inspiration from Burning Man. One of my favorite parts of being at Burning Man is how it makes you feel like a kid again, riding bikes around beautiful art sculptures in the desert. You never really know where the day or night is going to take you, and that unexpected, anything-can-happen feeling was something we really wanted to share with our guests… without giving anything away in advance ;).
